Think back to your first prompt. It may have taken seconds, or minutes of fumbling. Today, that interaction is more intentional: an iterative exchange between human purpose and machine capability. That is what Prompt in Progress represents.
We are builders, creators, and innovators across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area who refuse to sit on the sidelines of this technological shift. We are here to spark change in our region, together.
We embrace the uncertain in-between: the place where ideas are rough, people are learning, and real progress begins. You do not need all the answers to belong here.
We are not simply event organisers. Events are where connections begin; education deepens understanding; community sustains momentum. Each strengthens the next.

We brought Google DeepMind to Hong Kong.
Google DeepMind had never hosted a hackathon in Hong Kong before. We changed that, bringing the Generative UI A2UI framework to the city and giving local builders direct access to one of the world's leading AI research teams.

We brought OpenAI to Hong Kong.
Hong Kong's first hackathon backed globally by OpenAI, OpenRouter, and CopilotKit. Out of 687 submitted projects across 50 cities worldwide, two teams from Hong Kong made it to the finals. We're so proud that Hong Kong brought home first place.

Prompt in Progress began when Timothy Chau started looking for Hong Kong's technical builders in 2024. Rejections became introductions, introductions became monthly rooms, and those rooms became a wider calling: to make AI progress more human and more inclusive.

When I first started building an AI community in Hong Kong in 2024, I had no network, no resources, and no backing. What I had was sheer dedication and the belief that our city needed a technical community, and that builders were already here.
I went to conferences, waited until panels finished, and introduced what I was building to speakers in the hope they would host us. There were many rejections and cold shoulders. But the community grew quickly. We met friends who now call it home, and worked with partners I never imagined possible.
I kept our monthly meetups open and ran them on a pro-bono basis because events are not merely a value exchange. We can genuinely learn from each other and explore AI together. I want people to leave inspired, not feeling as though they attended just another event.
We are builders of people, not event organisers. We are about stories and feelings, not a name on a marketing list or a corporate KPI. After hosting these events, I felt a bigger calling: we can build an ecosystem that supports one another.
I do not know exactly what this ecosystem will become, which is why it is “in progress.” But if we build intentionally, just as we prompt with intention, we can create great things and bring our ambitions into reality.
We have a duty to be inclusive. Beyond technical meetups, we have a calling as humans to help others understand this technology and bridge the gap. Here, we embrace imperfection, confusion, and the in-between. Everything we are witnessing is new and disruptive, but we can navigate it together.
我們不只是籌辦活動，而是在培育人與關係。即使未來仍未清晰，只要有意識地共同建設，我們便能跨越技術與人的距離，一起找到方向。
